Serengeti Horse Safari: A Guided Horseback Itinerary, Map
Serengeti Horse Safari: A Guided Serengeti Horseback Itinerary + Map. The first night of your horseback riding journey in Africa will be spent at a permanent camp outside Arusha, a short drive from Mount Kilimanjaro International Airport. After that, you’ll take a picturesque flight over some of the best wildlife areas in Tanzania and arrive in the Serengeti region, where the real adventure begins.
The Serengeti, whose name literally means “endless plains” in Masai, is the Africa of popular imagination. You’ll experience a throwback to the “safari of old” as you travel with migrating herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle. These rides are timed so that riders have the best possible chance of witnessing this breathtaking event from the saddle. Join a herd of galloping zebras, sneak up on a grazing elephant, and marvel at a towering giraffe as you travel through some of the last unspoiled wildernesses on Earth. If you’re lucky, you can experience the miracle and drama of calving season, when thousands of weak newborn calves are born in a short period of time and big cats are lured to the area by the scent of fresh milk.
