About The Nyakagezi Gorilla Family
Unlike other National Parks, the Mgahinga National Park preserves 80 mountain gorillas. And there are only ten migrants from this group. They continue their journey to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda. In 2012, the group returned to the park and established. It has ten members and three silverbacks. In May 2013, the group welcomed a new baby, bringing the total number of members to eleven. It is commanded by a silverback named Mark, who leads and defends the Nyakagezi gorilla family.
Because this Nyakagezi Gorilla Family travels frequently, gorilla permits for this family can only be obtained from the Uganda Wildlife Authority’s park headquarters in Uganda.
