Deserves six stars
This was our first experience in Africa, so we didn’t know quite what to expect. However, I can assure that andBeyond exceeded all of our expectations. Serengeti under Canvas is an incredible experience. The accommodations are amazing–especially considering that this is a camp that is torn down and set up elsewhere 4x/year. The tents are quite luxurious and even the bucket shower is great. The staff is truly magnificent–responsive to your every need–including some that you didn’t even know about. Solomon was the camp manager and was outstanding. The food was fantastic–especially considering that it was mostly prepared over a charcoal grill. Chris was an amazing guide for our game drives–uber knowledgeable and with the eyes of an eagle. We were fortunate to be there when the migration was just starting to come through and were able to experience one of the true wonders of nature at ground level. The experience that andBeyond provides is unparalleled. Under Canvas provides a unique perspective that you can’t get from a lodge stay. Not to be missed!
Safari must!
We (a group of 3 couples) stayed at AndBeyond Serengeti under canvas in the Kogatende area for 3 nights this September and it was amazing. The facility moves 4 times a year trying to anticipate the movement of the great migration. I cannot say enough about how special this experience was. The tents are very luxurious (definitely glamping) and include a very comfortable bed, flush toilet, and an outside bucket shower that is part of your tent and that they add hot water to before you have a shower. There is also a dining tent and lounge/cocktail tent for the guests to share. The food was amazing and the staff were very attentive.
Our safari driver was Alphonce and he was incredible! He was so entertaining and as excited as we were to be out on the Serengeti enjoying all of the wildlife. He had the eyes of an eagle, able to see wildlife that most people would drive by. We were able to see lions eating their kill, and chasing away the hyenas that were getting too close. We came across cheetahs that had just made their second kill having lost the first to the scavengers. We were able to see the wildebeest crossing the Mara river twice in our three days there. One crossing involved the crocodiles while the other crossing was down a very steep bank and crossing very deep water. An awe inspiring experience to witness. We saw a leopard stalking potential prey from the river bank. We saw elephants chasing lions away from the river they were feeding by. These are only a few of the animals we were able to witness in action!
Of the three AndBeyond locations we stayed at during our safari this one was my absolute favorite! If you are going on safari, you will not be disappointed staying here!
