Day 1: Drive from Kampala to Kidepo Valley National Park
Safari in Uganda – Kidepo Valley National Park – Karamoja Region
On the first day of your safari to Kidepo Valley National Park be prepared to wake up early in order to start your long drive northwards. Latest 6:30 am, you should be getting out of the city to avoid traffic jams.
The drive takes you past several towns and you have a glimpse of the local livelihood in Uganda as you see natives go around with their daily work. Your Uganda wildlife safari guide will ensure to offer an explanation to any of your questions depending on anything you may get curious about during the drive. Gulu town is where you will make your lunch stop for a maximum of about 1 hour. After lunch and a little relaxation, you get back in your safari vehicle for a drive towards the north on a good tarmac road to Kitgum town. 154 Km from Kitgum to Kidepo Valley National Park is on a rough road and could be really dusty during the dry season.

Day 2: Have a Morning game drive and evening nature walk
After a night in Kidepo, you wake up for breakfast and then embark on a morning game drive in the plains of Kidepo. The game drive takes the Kakine circuit just close to Apoka, the trail may offer you a chance to see wildlife species including Buffaloes, warthogs, waterbucks, Jackson’s Hartebeests, and Rock hyrax, Elands, Giraffes, Zebras, side-striped jackal, and many more. Alongside wildlife, you may also see several bird species. After the game drive, return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the evening, you take a nature walk through the park. Along with a ranger guide, you walk in nature for about 2 hours. Return to your lodge for dinner and a night’s stay.

Day 3: Undertake the morning game drive and visit the hot springs and evening game drive
Safari in Kidepo National Park
On your second morning at Kidepo Valley National Park, you’ll have breakfast then get back to the park for another morning game drive. This morning you take the circuit to the “hot springs” at the furthest point of the park.
For this drive, ensure to carry insect repellent since their tsetse flies in some parts of this section. Many park endemics survive on this side of the park and you may sight the dik-dik (smallest antelope), cheetah, and birds like Ostriches. Going past the Kidepo River, you have an amazing view of the scenic mountains around the park. After this morning’s game drive, you return to the lodge for lunch and then relaxation. In the evening you go for your last game drive. Taking a different circuit still, expect to see more wildlife species.

Day 4: Drive back to Kampala marking the end of the trip
On the last morning of your 4 days at Kidepo National Park Safari, you have really early morning breakfast and then embark on a drive back to Kampala. This time the drive is a little faster since there are not many stops. You have Lunch most probably in Masindi then continue with the drive to Kampala. Your driver-guide will ensure drop-off at your accommodation facility.

Kidepo National Park, Uganda
Kidepo Valley National Park is a 1,442 square kilometres (557 sq mi) national park in the Karamoja region in northeast Uganda. Kidepo is rugged savannah, dominated by the 2,750 metres (9,020 ft) Mount Morungole and transected by the Kidepo and Narus rivers.
Kidepo Valley National park is located near Karenga in Kaabong District, in the northeastern corner of Uganda. The park is approximately 220 kilometres (140 mi), by road northwest of Moroto, the largest town in the sub-region. It is approximately 520 kilometres (320 mi), by road, northeast of Kampala, Uganda’s capital and largest city.
