10 Days in Namibia Itinerary: Wildlife, Himbas And Dunes
10 Days in Namibia Itinerary: Wildlife, Himbas And Dunes. Covering Etosha, Sossusvlei, Damaraland and the Kaokoveld, this fly-in safari makes light work of Namibia’s big distances. The accommodation is some of the best – intimate, exclusive lodges – and the highlights include private game viewing, interactions with the Himba community and stunning scenery. It’s perfect for discerning honeymoon travellers.
Truly, the country of Namibia is a treasure trove. ‘Fairy circles,’ large wildlife, towering sand dunes, unrestricted stargazing, and distinctive towns that represent the ‘cultural clash’ of Africa and Europe are all features of the old Namib Desert, which is bordered by the unpredictable Atlantic Ocean, which draws in cool air and gives life to countless creatures.
One of the greatest ways to explore is by flying since it is so big — the size of France and Germany combined with a population of barely two million people. Flying over Namibia’s capital, Windhoek, you’ll be able to take in the breathtaking array of browns, khakis, golds, and reds as they give way to verdant plains and verdant vegetation as you approach the world-famous Etosha National Park. Game lovers will find utopia in Etosha, with to its diverse array of big game and 300+ bird species. Next, take a flight to the Marianfluss Valley, which is close to the Kunene River. This is the homeland of the Himba people and the location of the enigmatic “fairy circles,” which are perfectly spherical areas on the plains where no vegetation can be found. The Kaokoveld is a secluded region in northwest Namibia where you can see lions, elephants, rhinos, and giraffes that have adapted to life in the desert. Here your Namibian adventure comes to a close.
Those who are patient and can peacefully enjoy Namibia’s vast open spaces and enormous vistas will be rewarded with a safari that is ideal for individuals who like to travel off the beaten path or who are seeking isolation.

10 Days in Namibia: Wildlife, Himbas And Dunes Detailed Itinerary
Days 1-2: Big Game Thrills In Etosha | 2 Nights
Location: Etosha, Namibia
Etosha National Park, Namibia
Upon your arrival in Namibia, you will be met at Windhoek International Airport and then taken to Windhoek Eros Airport for a short flight to Etosha National Park. Your two-night residence, Onguma—The Fort, will be whisked away the moment you touch down at the Mokuti Airstrip. Etosha National Park, which has been around since 1907, is a one-of-a-kind combination of savannah and massive dry pans that is teeming with free-roaming animals, more than 300 bird species, and 144 different kinds of mammals. Take a half-day drive through this massive park to increase your chances of seeing a favourite or long-sought-after sighting, go on an exciting night drive to catch a glimpse of a nearby nocturnal animal, or join a guided walk to learn about the fascinating and minuscule insects, flowers, and birds that call this place home. The elephants of Etosha National Park are unique in that, although being some of the largest in Africa, they have very short tusks due to a mix of genetic abnormalities and a mineral-deficient diet. There are black-faced impala and black rhinos, both of which are in risk of extinction, in the region.
Days 3-4: Fairy Circles In The Sand | 2 Nights
Location: Kaokoveld, Namibia
Leave The Fort and Etosha with kind goodbyes this morning and soar to the Himba people’s mysterious Marianfluss Valley, which lies on the Kunene River’s banks. Perched on the hills of this picturesque region, the Okahirongo River Camp provides breathtaking views of the surrounding scenery.
Spend the day relaxing in the lounge, reading a book, or soaking up some rays in the pool. Learn about the Himba people, their culture, and their creative solutions to the challenges posed by their sometimes harsh environment by visiting a real Himba hamlet. Birdwatching from a boat is second to none; just keep an eye out for the odd crocodile in the Kunene. Invigorating hikers might want to put on their boots and explore the valley on foot, perhaps in quest of Marianfluss’s faerie circles. Particularly noticeable from a chartered scenic flight, this perplexing phenomenon is marked by circular regions of land devoid of vegetation, which impart a polka-dot appearance to the environment.
Days 5-6: Uncover The Kaokoveld | 2 Nights
Location: Kaokoveld, Namibia
Namibia cinematic journey through kaokoveld and damaraland
You will be flown to secluded northwest Namibia after breakfast at Okahirongo River Camp. For the next two nights, you will be comfortably based at Okahirongo Elephant Lodge, which is located in the midst of the Kaokoveld.
The cottages, which are adorned with a vibrant blend of African colours, each has their own distinct charm. Indulge in a swim in the pool, curl up with a good book in the library, unwind in one of the two outdoor lounges, or indulge in a soothing massage at this luxurious lodge, which boasts an impressive panorama view. Every day brings a new dish that deftly combines Italian and African flavours. One of the two dining rooms or the traditional boma, illuminated by fire, under the stars, is the perfect setting for a candlelit dinner. African species such as lions, giraffes, black rhinos, and elephants exclusively inhabit arid regions like the Kaokoveld. Embark on an awe-inspiring elephant tracking adventure through this Namibian gem.
Day 7: The Place Of God | 1 Nights
Location: Damaraland, Namibia
A relaxing breakfast will prepare you for Damaraland. In the Twyfelfontein Conservancy, halfway between the Huab and Ugab rivers, is where the picturesque flight will drop you down at Mowani Mountain Camp. Mowani literally means “the place of god,” and the moment you step foot here, you’ll understand why.
Relax with a drink in hand as you bask in the African sun on the pool deck tucked away amongst boulders at Mowani Mountain Camp. Visit the Twyfelfontein rock carvings after lunch. After a day of sundowners at the camp, enjoy supper and a restful night’s sleep in a deluxe tent with elegant furnishings and an East African theme.
Days 8-9: Unwind In Sossusvlei | 2 Nights
Location: Sossusvlei, Namibia
Sossusvlei Namibia – Desert Dunes of the Namib
Lunch at the Germanic seaside village of Swakopmund is within your reach with a charter aeroplane. Little Kulala in the boundless Namib-Naukluft Reserve is a short fly away after lunch.
Enjoy a luxurious up-close encounter with nature at Sossusvlei. The lodge’s thatch and other natural materials allow it to disappear into the reserve’s scenery. Before retiring to your en suite accommodation, relax with a drink at the bar or sundowner deck. Private plunge pools and rooftop star beds are available in some of the rooms.
Experience the one-of-a-kind Namib-Naukluft the following day with 4×4 excursions in the morning and afternoon, traversing the boundless grasslands and breathtaking mountain ranges. Find the big and small desert creatures as well as the old hunting grounds of the indigenous San people. Sunlight, dry plains, and boundless wildness will nourish your spirit.
Day 10: Farewell Namibia
Have a leisurely meal and some tea in bed first thing in the morning. After saying your goodbyes to Namibia, you will be taken to the airstrip.
